The country has already faced two waves of Covid-19, so the next question is, "Will there be a third wave of Corona in India?" More importantly, are we missing corona virus 3rd wave symptoms? This appears to be a straightforward question, but the answers are complex. There are numerous theories regarding the occurrence of the third wave. Few people believe that the third wave has already begun in India and will peak in a month or two. Epidemiologists have speculated that the third wave may not be as severe as previously thought, depending on how people behave especially during festive season which is on our head and the number of strong variants produced.

We all know that there was a sudden spike in COVID-19 case during the festive season last year because we completely relaxed our guard in the month of October and November (festive months), assuming that the pandemic was over, and COVID surveillance and control took a back seat and repeating the same mistake could be a disaster.

With people preparing to celebrate festivals starting from Navratri and Dussehra to Diwali and Christmas, the threat of Covid resurgence remains. "If we are not careful, the pandemic could take an unfavourable turn. We have to keep an eye on things for the next three months and adopt covid 3rd wave precautions as all the COVID restrictions have been lifted.

Our government cited countries such as Russia and the Netherlands where a spike in cases was observed following mass gatherings at certain public events. So COVID 3rd wave prevention will play an important role to stem the spread of COVID-19 virus.

Preventive measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 virus:

  • Get COVID-19 vaccination as early as possible - Vaccines are the best line of defense against Covid-19 infection and will help to prevent third wave of Corona in India. The more people get vaccinated, the better the chances of lowering the infectivity rate.
  • Try to avoid social gatherings - It’s understandable that we’ve all been compelled to stay inside and avoid social interaction from almost twenty months. However, if we are to completely eradicate this virus, we must limit its spread. This means we'll have to avoid social gatherings for a while longer. Even if you are fully vaccinated, following the protocol and avoiding social gatherings will help. When you're outside, maintain social distance.
  • Follow COVID-19 appropriate behavior - Despite the fact that the Covid-19 vaccination protects you from a severe infection; people can still infect others, particularly the vulnerable population. Keep the following points in mind:

1. Children over the age of five should also be encouraged to wear masks.

2. Maintaining a six-foot social distance while outside the home should always be followed.

3. Hand sanitization should be done every 5-6 hours or whenever one goes out.

4. Masks should be worn at all times when leaving the house.

5. Used masks should be washed on a regular basis to avoid opportunistic infections.

  • Do not take no unnecessary risks - Since early 2020, the world has been dealing with a pandemic that is far from over. Dropping your guard now could be fatal. Your safety is entirely in your hands. There are no rewards for taking chances. The most valuable prize would be to survive when this is all over. To do so, you must remain prudent and avoid taking any unnecessary risks, no matter how tempting they may be. Your vacation plans can wait and so can your social or religious gatherings.
  • Avoid hospitals unless necessary - This virus can be treated at home if all precautions are taken. There is no point in overcrowding hospitals unless the situation becomes critical. Isolating yourself at home is a safer option

The third Covid-19 wave may or may not occur. Even if it does occur, it can be handled effectively if each citizen follows the simple rules outlined above. There are no prizes for being smart. Following the protocol and following all of the rules will undoubtedly keep you safe.

The virus spreads whenever we are careless and we have witnessed the previous two waves. It is entirely avoidable if we concentrate on taking adequate precautions. The mask has clearly saved the day. People, on the other hand, have continued to be careless, making themselves easy targets.

We must accept the fact that the COVID- 19 is not over yet and has potential to become an endemic which means it can cause cluster of cases throughout the year.

Don't believe everything you hear. There is no evidence to suggest that children will be more vulnerable during the third wave. Vaccination is the only solution because it creates herd immunity. By far the most effective weapon against this virus is adhering to the rules. We will need to be vigilant and cautious in our approach until majority of Indians are vaccinated.
